$1.13B: There is a new Billionaire in New Jersey

"So, in what denomination do you want your bills? One lucky customer at the Shoprite liquor store in Neptune Township hit on all six numbers to score the $1.13 Billion dollar payout. The identity of the Mega Millions winner has not been revealed, and may never be as New Jersey allows winners to remain a unidentified since signing into a law the anonymity bill in 2020. Shoppers at the popular grocery store, which adjoins the liquor store were caught up in the excitement of TV cameras and media presence in the store when it became apparent someone hit it "big." Technically, the new winner of the Billion dollar ticket is given a cash option of an estimated $535.5M payout after federal and state are deducted. Shoprite indicates they will take the company's portion of the winnings, $30,000, and donate it to charity. Richard Saker, President of the family-owned company that operates 40 Shoprites in New Jersey said the store's bonus will go to the Shoprite Partners In Caring Program, which benefits 2,200 charities fighting food insecurity.
